UPDAA Activities going online!



           At the height of the pandemic, the UPDAA in cooperation with the Academy Of Dentistry
International and UPCD Dept of Community Dentistry offered a free webinar to educate the dental health care providers on proper waste management for the New Normal.

       The UPDAA and OPAP Lectures Online organized a webinar to enhance the capabilities of
dental professionals as they prepare for the re-opening of dental offices in the new normal addressing issues on laminar flow for clinics, aerosols, disinfection, PPEs and additional infection control measures.

        Given these unprecedented times, mental health is an issue not only for dental professionals
but also for dental students. Not knowing when classes will resume, being unsure of the new
protocols to be instituted and what lies beyond for the profession have caused heightened anxiety to the dental students. The UPDAA, with UPCD and the UPCD Student Council as co-hosts, offered a free webinar to ALL DENTAL STUDENTS in the country titled, “TeethTalk: Teeth too Shall Pass", Mental Health Talk for Dental Students. With the assistance of UP-IMS, UP Zoom had 545 attendees and UPCD FB Live saw 511 attendees. To date, the webinar has now been viewed more than 9,700 times.

           Some dental professionals some have reportedly experienced heightened anxiety brought about by the uncertainties of the profession, the new protocols, financial challenges, and fears of the virus itself.  It is with these thoughts that the UPDAA, in partnership with the UPCD and the Philippine Navy Dental Service presented an interactive webinar on the mental health of our dental healthcare providers entitled “TEETH TALK: Tayo Naman; A Mental Health Talk for The Dental Professionals.”
            This was attended by 200 in Zoom and 111 in UPCD Fb Live.  To date, the webinar has now been viewed more than 1,700 times.

            The UPDAA launched a YouTube page where non-UPDAA members may view their recent
webinars for reference and for sharing continuing education to other dental communities.   





            The Philippine Dental Association Vidcast Series, a webinar series, featured The UPDAA president, Dr. Rochelle B. Javier, to introduce Teledentistry to the Filipino Dentists through her experiences as admin of the UP DENTISTA PARA sa  BAYAN Facebook group which offered free online consultation.
